The name of this author, Seth Casteel, may be familiar to you… perhaps for his volunteering collaboration with animal shelters, perhaps for being the New York Times Best Selling Author of Underwater Dogs, the best selling photography book of 2012.
The story of this award-winning photographer started in 2007, when Seth began volunteering with animal rescues all around the world, taking professional photos of homeless pets to increase adoption rates. He knows that, when a dog walks into a rescue shelter, despite being photographed for the adoption website, in most cases no one will take it home, because that’s “that one photo” that makes people look away so their hearts don’t feel guilty for not taking that pet in their arms. So, to put an end to that photo, Seth created an initiative called One Picture Saves a Life, with improved and positive photos that showed happy doggies with unique personalities, ready to be part of your family! This resulted in countless adoptions and more resources for the shelters to groom the sheltered pets.
You’ll see here Buster, the underwater doggie who inspired the series and the book. As homeless as the rest of the dogs of the book, he was able to find a lovely home thanks to this positive photography of animal rescue.
