This is the story of Noor, a 17-year-old teen living in Canada who has become a speaker of many Muslim girls using hijab by choice against oppression stereotypes… by transforming her drawings in the most famous comic book superheroes in history!
Thanks to the comic fantasy Thor, Hulk, or Captain America will never be the same again: now they will tell the world that the Muslim woman is powerful and could be any superhero comic, although Noor (also known as Nora) prefers not to link religion with art; she explains her life by dressing the characters with hijab and changing the hero for the heroine as an initiative from a contest in Tumblr which encouraged participants to draw themselves as a popular comic book characters. In her own words, these creations help to understand that the Muslim woman can be as fashion as any other (did you think otherwise?), cause the majority of them use veil out of conviction to accentuate more their beauty, except for those places in which they’re forced to wear it due to political or social pressures.
Internet users, attracted by curiosity, ask her how she would draw herself in this or that hero, and she responds to the challenge with incredible pictures as the ones we bring you here. Would you dare to ask her for a drawing too?
